BBC presenter Frances Fyfield is joined by Conductor Marin Alsop, writer Nigel Simeone and Librarian Mark Horowitz to explore the boxes full of original scores, letters, manuscripts and sketches from Leonard Bernstein's 1957 Broadway smash. As they uncover and explore boxes of manuscripts held at the Library of Congress, they open a window on the fascinating collaborative process of creating a piece of musical theater. It's a fascinating program, bringing to life one America's true treasures.
