For the first time in 75 years the public will redesign the famous British brand to celebrate its diamond anniversary
This year the makers of Ribena are offering one family a once in a lifetime opportunity to become part of the well-loved British brand’s history. This May sees the launch of the first-ever competition to redesign the famous Ribena Blackcurrant bottle label – with a money-can’t-buy-prize. The ‘Ribena 75th Birthday Competition,’ headed up by ex-Blue Peter presenter and mum Katy Hill, celebrates 75 years of Ribena since its creation in 1938.
To reward fans for the love they have shown Ribena over the years, the makers of the iconic brand are offering one lucky family the chance to see their limited edition design on bottles sold exclusively in Tesco.
Katy Hill (pictured decorating her label) is leading a panel of esteemed judges for the competition where the only criteria is the theme of ‘celebration’.
From paint to pastels, crayons to collage, anything goes to help create a new look for this classic. All entries will be showcased on the Ribena Facebook pageto offer inspiration and a sneak peek at the competition.
The winning family will also receive a holiday and 20 runners-up will get a year’s supply of Ribena squash*.

Ribena has been the nation’s favourite way to get their vitamin C since 1938, taking its name from the Latin word for blackcurrants - Ribes Nigrum. Usage became widespread during World War II due to a shortage of citrus fruit as a result of rationing.
After 75 years Ribena has evolved to include new ranges, such as Ribena Strawberry and new Ribena Plus in flavours such as Apple and Peach, with added health benefits and no added sugar. There’s a Ribena for the whole family and every range stays true to the core Ribena values of providing 100 per cent of your daily dose of vitamin C.
To this day, Ribena remains a uniquely home-grown brand, using blackcurrants which are still grown on a handful of British farms by farmers who have grown blackcurrants for Ribena for up to 60 years and three generations.
Sara Hasan, senior brand manager at Ribena, said: “A lot has happened in the past 75 years, but we’re extremely proud of the fact that Ribena has been a constant in family life over that time, delivering its daily dose of vitamin C. Fans of the brand have shown tremendous loyalty and it’s only right that we reward that loyalty by giving them the chance to express their love for the brand in one of the best ways possible.”
The competition launches on 27th May 2013 closes on 21st June 2013; for more details visit http://www.ribena.co.uk/75-birthday-competition
