Shwop 'til you Drop!

You know I love kid's clothes. Love them. And you know I love a bargain. And you know how I'm a bleeding-heart liberal and love a good cause. So how excited was I to hear that the good people at Marks and Spencer were teaming up with Oxfam to do a very special childrenswear pop-up store? EXCITED. Here's the deal: starting today, a three-day Kids Shwop Boutique will open at the Marble Arch store, with all proceeds going towards Oxfam's Mother Appeal.

You remember M&S's "Shwop" campaign, headed by glamorpuss Joanna Lumley, yeah?  You can go into any M&S store and hand over an unwanted item of clothing that will go on to be re-sold, re-used or recycled by Oxfam. That means you can very easily enforce the one-in-one-out policy and won't end up with three identical black skirts in your closet, since you can donate the tired one. Since its launch in April 2012, Oxfam has received 6.9 million items of clothing thanks to Swopping, worth £4.5 million for the charity. All money raised by Shwopping is used to support Oxfam's projects around the world working to alleviate poverty.  ANYWAY, this is the same thing, but with a special focus on childrenswear. CHILDRENSWEAR. Little shirts, tiny dresses, wee trousers! Entry to the Kids Shwop Boutique is free, but you will have to shwop, using old or unused clothes as your ticket to this exclusive sale.

And what a sale! Shwoppers will be able to pick up once-loved childrenswear items from Britain's top style icons and celebrity mothers including Abbey Clancy, Peaches Geldof, Alex Gerrard, Zoe Ball, Rochelle Humes, Sarah Story, Mel Giedroyc and Shwopping ambassador Joanna Lumley herself. You know that stuff is going to be quality. And,  thanks to the generosity of the UK government, every pound raised for the appeal will be doubled.

So run right down to Marks & Spencer on Marble Arch (458 Oxford Street, London, W1C 1AP) today through Saturday, 8 March between 8AM and 9PM, and Shwop to your heart's content!
