Behold!
After almost four months in residence, I finally got the living room, the carbuncle of the main floor, painted! I don't know if you can tell, but it's now a lovely creamy taupe-y latte color, thereby banishing the nasty, dirty mouthwash color (here it is in its previous incarnation; you can kind of see the toothpaste wall color behind the bucket of lilies) forever!!!
So much nicer... now it looks like real people live here. And having sealed the cracks between the floor and the skirting/baseboards, it's now a lot warmer. Much more comfortable and cozy!
I also found a space for the purple lamp, which had been languishing in the hinterlands of the dining room.
So now it's a lot more livable, but there is still a lot I'd like to add here. We definitely need new sofas, and that terrible Ikea rice paper lamp has reached the end of it's useful working days. We need a couple of new lamps, actually, because it's a bit dim in here. I'd desperately like to have a Fortuny silk one, but they are waaay too expensive! I'm awfully fond of this alternative:
We're also shopping for a set of drapes and an area rug, and a couple of pieces to go up on the walls. I know, you're never truly done, are you? But for now, it looks great; so much more inviting! O frabjous day! Calloo! Callay! Now... on to the dining room! But not until after Thanksgiving dinner.
